The Mahabodhi Society of India is the oldest Buddhist Society at Bodh gaya. It was founded by Devamitta Anagaika in 1891 when he was on some pilgrimages to India.
A hundred year old buiding and the oldest among the existing monasteries , stand at the west of the Mahabodhi Temple. For the construction of Buddha Gaya centre, Dhamapal took much more pain than he did for any other centre . Through he had face a lot of obstacles in the way he succeed in this mission .
